Use the script above or develop your own script that matches your personality
Practice your script so that it flows naturally
Have a commanding voice
Speak clearly and avoid rushing through your words
State your name with emphasis, especially if you have a unique name
Relax. It usually takes 2-3 takes to nail down the intro.
Look Like an Athlete
TIPS
Dress in full uniform
When the camera is rolling
Be sharp and crisp
Pretend that a college coach is in the dugout watching you
Stick each play and assume game-speed action
When fielding a ball at shortstop, field it cleanly, make your throw to first and watch it through to completion
When catching a ball at first base or at catcher, stick the catch and hold it for 1-2 seconds
Be vocal
If playing a fly ball, call for it loudly
If playing defense on a bunt, call the bunt
For players who are on the field supporting the athlete being filmed, call the play
1-1-1 or 2-2-2
Jewelry and accessories
Only wear what would be authorized in a live game
For photographic headshots
We recommend that you wear your hair as you would for a game
On windy days, be mindful that long hair will be troublesome if not secured
Other Tips & Info
Keep the field clear
Remove overthrown balls
Store gear out of view from the camera
Players standing by should not be seen by the camera
For group sessions, we will film one position at a time with players rotating into the same position
This streamlines the process and prevents player fatigue
Each player will be given an index card
They will write their name and uniform number on the card in large font
The index card will be used for editing purposes to help designate who is being filmed
Positional Shots
We highly encourage limiting your skills video to your top three defensive positions. Filming more than three positions in one shoot leads to exhaustion, impacting how you look on camera.
Videos with more than three positions will go beyond the 2-3 minute threshold of a college coach's attention span.
We can accommodate filming more than three positions for an additional $25 per added position.
Pitchers
Each pitch will be filmed from the front, side, and rear
Pocket Radar footage will be filmed from the front
Start and finish each pitch cleanly
Follow through each pitch allowing 1-2 seconds before stepping back to the pitching mound
When you feel that you have the pitch that you want to include in the video, let the camera person know so that it can be marked in the video
Catchers
Stick each catch and hold it for 1-2 seconds
For blocking, stick the block and hold the position for 1-2 seconds
Bunt Defense - Be LOUD
Throw downs to 2nd, 1st and 3rd will be filmed from two angles; hold the follow-through for 1-2 seconds
Supporting team members playing the base should call the play then stick and hold the catch for 1-2 seconds
Infield
Stick each play and assume game speed action
When fielding a ball at shortstop, field it cleanly then make your throw to first and watch it through to completion
When catching a ball at first base or at catcher, stick the catch and hold it for 1-2 seconds
If flipping a ball to first or second, call the flip
Supporting team members playing the base should call the play then stick and hold the catch for 1-2 seconds
Outfield
Call the ball loudly
Take a breather if needed in between plays, especially when having to chase a ball down
Long throws from right field to third or left field to home demonstrates arm strength
Supporting team members playing the base should call the play then stick and hold the catch for 1-2 seconds
